Questions

The things people actually ask.

Including the ones that are awkward to ask a stranger about money.

Money

Why is it only $1,000? What's the catch?

No catch. An agency's price covers an office, a salesperson, an account manager and their own advertising. I have none of that, so I don't charge for any of it. You're paying for design and build time and nothing else.

The trade-off is real though: I'm one person. I can't take twenty projects at once, and I'm not the right call for a sixty-page site with logins and inventory.

What exactly is the $200 deposit for?

The first preview is free — I build it before you've paid anything. If you want changes made to it, that's more design hours, and the deposit covers that time.

It's credited toward your build, so if you go ahead you pay $800 more instead of $1,000. It isn't an extra charge. The only person who pays $200 and nothing else is someone who takes the revised design and walks away.

Is the deposit refundable?

Once the revised preview has been delivered, no — the work has been done at that point. If I fail to deliver it, you get the full $200 back.

Can I pay the deposit up front to steer the design?

Yes, and some people prefer to. Pay it before the first preview with a style, some reference sites, or a brand look you want matched, and the first pass gets built to your direction instead of mine. Same $200, same credit toward the build.

Is there a deposit on the Signature build?

Yes — $1,000 before work begins, and it comes off the $3,500, so it's $2,500 at launch rather than $3,500 on top. Signature builds are scoped in a short text conversation first, and the deposit is what starts the work.

Are there any other costs?

A domain name if you don't already own one — that's paid to a registrar, usually around $15 a year, and it stays in your name. Beyond that, no. Monthly plans are optional and clearly priced.

How do I pay?

Zelle, CashApp, Venmo or Square. Build payment is due before the site goes live, less any deposit already credited.

Who pays for hosting?

I do. Hosting is included with the build and it stays included whether or not you ever take a monthly plan — there's no hosting bill coming later. The plans add backups, security monitoring, uptime monitoring and upkeep on top; they don't buy you the hosting itself.

Who buys the domain, and who owns it?

You own it. It's registered in your name from day one, so the domain is yours and stays yours whatever happens between us. I do the registering so you don't have to work out how — you just cover the registrar fee, usually around $15 a year. If you already have a domain, I point it at the new site instead and you keep it where it is.

Do I have to sign a contract?

Scope and price are confirmed in writing before any work begins — what's being built, what it costs, and when it's due. Nothing starts on a handshake and nothing gets billed that wasn't agreed first. The free preview comes before any of that, and carries no obligation at all.

The work itself

How long does it take?

Preview within 48 hours of your text. Live 5–7 days after you approve it. The Signature tier takes 10–14 days.

Those are targets, not guarantees, and the clock pauses whenever I'm waiting on something from you — photos, your licence number, a decision.

What if I don't like it?

Then walk. The preview is free and there's no obligation attached to it. If you'd rather have it changed than walk, that's the $200 deposit — and after you buy the build, two full redesigns are included.

Do I need to write the words or take photos?

No. I write the site from what's public about your business plus what you tell me. If you have good photos of your work, they help a lot and I'll ask for them — but I can build without.

What I do need from you are facts: your real licence number, your real hours, your real service area. Those I can't invent, and legally you're responsible for them being accurate.

Do I need to know anything technical?

Not a thing. You never touch a dashboard, a hosting panel or a domain setting unless you want to. Changes happen by texting me.

I already have a website. Is it worth replacing?

Sometimes no. Run it through the free site check first — if it scores well, keep it and save your money, and I'll say so.

What usually makes replacement worth it: it isn't built for phones, it takes more than three seconds to load, or the phone number isn't tappable. Those cost you calls every week.

Can you match a specific look I've seen?

Yes. Send me the sites you like. On the Signature tier that's the whole point of it — bring any reference and it gets built.

Ownership and afterwards

Who owns the website?

You do, once the build is paid for — the design and the code both. Before final payment it's mine, which is standard. Third-party pieces like fonts and libraries keep their own licences, which pass to you as they are.

What if I want to leave later?

You take the site. Cancel any monthly plan before the next billing date and I hand over what's needed to host it elsewhere. No hostage-taking, no exit fee.

Do I have to take a monthly plan?

No. The build is one-time and the site works whether or not you take one. Plans exist because a maintained site keeps getting found and an abandoned one slowly stops.

What happens if you disappear?

Fair question to ask a one-man operation. The site is yours and runs on standard hosting anyone can take over — it isn't locked to some proprietary platform only I can log into. If you're on a plan, cancelling stops the billing immediately.

Will you put my business in your portfolio?

I'd like to, but tell me in writing if you'd rather I didn't and I won't.

Results and honesty

Will this get me to the top of Google?

I can't promise that and neither can anyone else — anyone who does is guessing or lying. What I can do is build the site correctly for local search from day one, and on a monthly plan, keep doing that work and show you what was done.

How many extra calls will I get?

I don't know, and I won't invent a number. It depends on your trade, your area, your reviews and your competition. The numbers page shows what's true about local businesses in general — not a prediction about yours.

I get all my work from referrals. Why do I need this?

You might not. But here's the loss you can't see: a referred customer gets your name, googles it to check you're real, finds nothing, and quietly calls someone else instead. Nobody ever tells you that happened.

Are the demo sites real businesses?

No — every business name, address, phone number, licence and review on the demo sites is invented. They're portfolio pieces showing what a build looks like. Your site gets your real details, and nothing goes live until you've confirmed them.

Still wondering something?

Text it. You'll get a straight answer, including "no" if that's the honest one.
